LAS VEGAS | Road Trip Photo Diary 2016
On the 4th July 2016, we drove 3 hours from San Diego to Calico Ghost Town and then 2 hours more onto Las Vegas. It was sad to leave San Diego but I was so excited for Vegas.
Calico was very interesting, however was very hot. It was about 10 to 15 degrees hotter (around 110 degrees Fahrenheit) than San Diego and was a big change from what we were used to. It was a historic mine town that had been restored to what it used to be like when people lived there. Although the heat was slightly unbearable, it was very cool to walk through.
We then drove on to Vegas. We stayed at the Cosmopolitan which was so elegant and modern. Our view from the 58th floor was incredible and right above the Bellagio fountains. We spent the afternoon in the shopping mall and spent the evening exploring around our hotel and Planet Hollywood, before going for dinner at Bubba Gump’s.
On the next morning, we decided to visit the Neon Museum in Downtown Las Vegas. This was amazing to see as I love neon signs and older looking things. The signs that had actually been used in Vegas were just sitting in a Junkyard. Although they looked old, they didn’t look entirely dead and still had lots of character. The tour guide was utterly hilarious and gave a lot of information about each sign. We then visited Downtown Las Vegas, which was also very incredible. We came back in the evening to see it all lit up.
We then went to visit some of the hotels. My personal favourites were the Bellagio and the Wynn but the Venetian and Paris were very cute too.
On our final day, we went on a little river boat to see the Hoover Dam. In the evening, we went to one of the buffets for dinner and to see the Bellagio fountains.
On the morning we left, we stopped off at the shooting range and then off at the mall. We waited whilst my brother shot almost a perfect round, and then went back to the mall to do a little last minute shopping before driving on to Death Valley.
This second part to my photo diary is slightly longer because I took a lot more photos in Vegas as it was a lot more bustling than San Diego. I really enjoyed Vegas and would definitely go back and try to see more.
