SAN FRANCISCO | Road Trip Photo Diary 2016
After Yosemite, on the 12th July, we drove 3 hours to San Francisco. It was quite windy and oh so hilly, but still very pretty. We were staying a few blocks from Fisherman’s Wharf, which I really enjoyed because it meant we could walk and see a lot of things.
We went to view the Golden Gate Bridge on our way to the hotel. On the first evening, we went and explored Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. We went to dinner at a nice restaurant overlooking the ocean.
On the first full day, we got up super early to go and visit Alcatraz. We were on the first boat to the island which meant it wasn’t very busy. This place was very interesting and I would definitely go back again. The stories were so fascinating. It was as as if it weren’t even a real place because it was as if the stories were made up and never happened.
Later in the day we explored the port and the general city on the trams. The port had a lot of little market stalls inside and was very cute. We finished the day by getting a Street Car back to the Wharf and having dinner while watching the sunset and the boats on the water.
The next day, we visited the Presidio and the Walt Disney Family Museum. I was amazed by this because I am possibly too obsessed with Disney (although I’m not sure my family were totally enamoured). It was so incredible to see how it was first created and is still in our lives today. In the evening, we went and explored Sausalito, which was also a lot like San Diego. It was very quaint and a very typical beach town.
In the morning, we got up early for our longest drive of the trip – down Highway 1, along the coast, to Pismo Beach.
